Looking to Our Future
Interfaith
Unity
A
Community NEWS Publication
For
Toronto and Region’s Interfaith Communities
GOALS
AND THE "4 C's"
OUR
GOALS:
-
continue to publish upcoming events. This is important work. Now we wish
to also run stories and pictures
about
the events afterwards.
-
maintain and continue to increase our current Resource Centre files.
-
to serve as a directory and intercommunication medium for Interfaith
activities of individuals, organizations
and
faith groups. We will also pursue background stories about them.
-
to publish more essays so that we represent the myriad views of
Toronto’s Religious & Spiritual communities.
-
explore Inter-spiritual activities and programs within Toronto and area.
-
report on collective Interfaith activities in the Interfaith Community,
especially those which interface with the
general communities at large, such as the City Government of Toronto.
-
publish readers’ comments and letters so that we can be a communications
forum.
The
4 “C’s”
of
Areas We Will Report On:
CONNECTION
Open
forms of worship, meditation, inner work, which promote:
1/
a sense of oneness with the
Divine
and the world.
And/or
2/
Assist in removing personal
blocks
to attaining a sense of
unity
with self, others and
the
divine.
Both
in a manner which
respects
all Faith Systems.
CELEBRATION
Open
events celebrating our
sense
of oneness with the
Divine
and the World. Events
that
create a sense of Awe,
Wonder
and spirit-filled Joy.
Celebration
of historical
anniversaries
and birthdates, of
the
natural cycles of the earth,
or
of cycles of a Religion’s year.
In
a manner which respects
other
Faith Systems.
CREATIVITY
Demonstration
of the creative
flow
of the Divine. Many Faith
Groups hold that we are
Co-creators with the Divine.
How
do we show this creativity
in art, writing, song, dance or
other
expressions.
We
invite others to come in and
experience
this art in a manner
which
respects other
Faith
Systems.
COMPASSION
All
major religions state the
need
to help our neighbours.
We
can share the ways we do
this
with others.
We
encourage and report on
religions
and organizations
coming
together to share
resources,
supplies and mutual
support
to help our neighbours
across
the street and around
the
world.
The
4 “C’s”
of
Reporting Assistance
CONNECTION
We
seek to meet personally
those
involved in Interfaith and
Inter-spiritual
activities.
This

We
seek to take part in
activities
and report back in
text
and pictures
to
our readers.
CORRESPONDENTS
Correspondents
cover events,
reporting
back to our editor.
These
are generally members
of
the Faith Groups and
organizations
who volunteer to
“cover”
the events of their own
group
in writing and photos.
Some
correspondents may
offer
to cover a wider number
of
events and assignments.
COLUMNISTS
INTERFAITH
UNITY seeks

locally,
nationally, and
internationally
who could fill
these
important roles.

Interfaith
Community. They may

Helping
turn Swords into Ploughshares
With
Internet ‘Printing Presses’
"They
shall beat their swords into ploughshares,
And
their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation
shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither
shall they learn war any more" (Isaiah
2:4)
Swords
to Ploughshares statue at
United Nations, New York
"There
will be no peace among the nations without peace among the
religions. There will be no peace among the religions without dialogue
among the religions." (Hans
Küng)
"I
believe in the fundamental truth of all great religions of the world.
I
believe that they are all God-given and I believe that they were
necessary
for the people to whom these religions were revealed.
And
I believe that if only we could all of us read the scriptures of the
different
faiths from the standpoints of the followers of these faiths,
we
should find that they were at bottom all one and were all helpful to one
another."
(Mahatma
Gandhi)
